Also known as a Self-Made Firearm or a Self-Assembled Firearm

A US is an Unlicensed Subject, meaning a person who does not have a license to manufacture firearms, what is often called a FFL07.

A person could start with raw material, such as an aluminum billet or steel block.

However, most people start with is commonly known as a "80% receiver", but is legally called a "precursor part".

If an US intends to self-manufacture a firearm, the person will file an online application for a Unique Serial Number Application (USNA) through the CFARS online system.
